Growth Mindset

One of the ideas that Megan and I feel inspired by is growth mindset. Our focus on campus this school year was growth in our staff, students, and ourselves. We wanted to focus on the ideas that we are all growing and learning each day. For our students it has been an amazing experience.

We started with data notebooks where each student monitors their growth and sets goals at each grading period (every 3 weeks). To see students celebrate going from a 57 to a 64 has been priceless. Not only do they have a sense of success but they specifically look at what they can do better.

If you haven't read much about growth mindset, Carol Dweck's book is a great place to start.
The thing that we love about growth mindset is that it offers hope. Hope to become stronger and better at what you do whether that is leading, teaching, or learning.
